Manas National Park Stay FAQ — Permits, Food, Packing

Manas National Park Stay FAQ (Sikhiri Cottages)

Short answers to the messages we receive every week.

Do I book the safari with the lodge or the Forest Department?

Both. The permit is a Forest Department document — start at manasnptr.in. The jeep, timing, packed lunch and wake-up are what the lodge runs. Message us the dates; do not pay a stranger on Instagram for a “guaranteed tiger”.

Is Sikhiri inside the national park?

It sits on the edge of Manas, Bansbari Range, Barengabari. You drive out for the safari. You do not need a park ticket to sleep in the cottage.

How many nights should we stay?

Two nights is the minimum that makes the Guwahati drive worthwhile. Three nights if you want two ranges or the Panbang day.

Can children do the jeep safari?

Yes, with common sense. A 3–4 hour open vehicle at 6:00 am is long for a toddler. For very small children, book one morning drive and spend the rest of the day on campus, at the pool, or in the village.

Is breakfast included? What about lunch and dinner?

Published cottage rates include breakfast. Lunch and dinner are extra and work better if you tell the kitchen in the morning. Safari days can have a packed picnic. Vegetarian is normal; vegan / Jain / no-onion needs a clear request.

Is there Wi-Fi and AC?

There is connectivity on the property; treat it as usable, not as an office. AC is in Loners Cottage and The Perch. The Nest is fan-only.

Can we see a tiger?

Possible. Not typical on a two-drive stay. Come for forest, river, rhino, buffalo, elephant, birds and a quiet night. If a tiger appears, that is the bonus.

What ID do I need?

  • Every safari: government photo ID
  • Panbang, Bhutan: Indian nationals only; adults passport or voter ID; children birth certificate

What should we pack?

Neutral shirts and trousers, warm layer for morning jeep, cap, sunscreen, repellent, binoculars, torch, any prescription medicine, power bank. Soft bags are easier than hard suitcases on village roads.

When is the park closed?

Generally June to September. Best window November to April. Read Best time to visit.

How do we pay and confirm?

WhatsApp +91 8287876070 with dates, cottage type, number of adults and children. Wait for a written rate and account detail from the lodge. Do not transfer to a number that is not printed on sikhiricottages.com.
